Many were delighted to finally see the WWE Universal Championship belt on Raw television before the next pay-per-view. But did we see the real thing?

According to PWInsider and many observant fans, neither Brock Lesnar nor Ronda Rousey were wearing the actual title belt on Monday Night Raw.

It’s a Fake!

Both Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar were spotted with a replica belt this week. While the reason for the switch is unknown, it is not that uncommon for replicas to be used inside the ring. For example, if a superstar leaves their title at home or if there is a problem with the real title, replicas are taken out instead.

How Do I Tell The Difference Between the Real Championship and a Replica?

So, how can you tell the difference between the real belt and a fake? Well, an observant fan put up a comparison of the real thing and the fake next to one another. This makes it a little easier to show you the minor differences between the replica and the real thing.

One of the first things that stands out between both title belts is the difference in texture. The real belt has a ribbed texture, while the fake is completely smooth.

The colour between both belts is not truly the same either. Fake belts tend to be a lighter shade of red, while the real thing is just a little darker.

Another difference between the real belt and the fake is the detailing on the side and the overall construction. The replica looks very much like plastic, while the genuine article has a more leather-like look.

Of course, as with all WWE replica belts. There are some really good fakes out there. Just look at this deluxe belt the WWE sells.

Still, even with the deluxe version, it still looks like plastic. While it may be a “good” fake, it is not enough to fool the WWE Universe.
