Sasha Banks is getting another shot at the Raw women’s championship. Whether she will be victorious against Ronda Rousey remains to be seen, since she and Bayley are the favourites for the future women’s tag team championships. Still, since I have no doubt Sasha will put on a good match, let us take a closer look at five fast facts about The Boss.

1. She Is Married to Sarath Ton

Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks is married to a fellow WWE employee, Sarath Ton. In fact, most of the ring gear Sasha wears is designed by her husband. Since Sasha has some of the best ring gear, I must admit I’m a little jealous.

While Sasha Banks does not mention her private life a lot, she did release a little bit of information about her relationship.

“It’s very nice, I’m really fortunate. It’s really crazy because we met in wrestling so we both started in the independents together and we worked for the same company down there. Then when I got signed to WWE he quit his job and moved to Tampa with me and we went to FCW. And I remember one year Triple H came to me and was like, ‘I hear your husband makes costumes’ and I was like ‘yeah, he does.'”

2. Mercedes

Sasha Banks may be known as The Boss now, but she actually started her wrestling career under the name Mercedes KV. Funnily enough, her first in-ring name was based on her actual name, Mercedes Kaestner-Varnado.

When Banks started training as a wrestler in Massachusetts in 2008, she was the only woman there. We have no doubt it impacted the way she wrestled and saw herself in the world of wrestling.

3. Sasha’s Mum Did Not Want Her to Watch Wrestling

Sasha Banks

Not every member of Sasha’s family was excited about her love for professional wrestling. During an interview, Sasha revealedĀ  that her mother asked her to switch off the television when she was watching her favourite wrestlers.

Fortunately, Sasha’s mum has changed her opinion on professional wrestling and is now fully on board with her daughter’s career.

4. She Adores Eddie Guerrero

Eddie Guerrero

When you ask Sasha Banks about the wrestler who inspired her to get into wrestling in the first place, or her favourite wrestler of all time, she will state Eddie Guerrero every time.

Banks’ admiration for Guerrero is clear, since she regularly uses the Frog Splash in the ring. She also paid homage to Guerrero more than once during her career.

On a sadder note, Sasha Banks attended the Eddie Guerrero memorial episode of Raw in 2005. Unfortunately, she was not aware of his death until she arrived at the event.

5. The Asian Pop Culture Nerd

Sasha proudly calls herself an Asian pop-culture nerd. She loves her anime, which includes popular series Sailor Moon. She also loves Korean music, especially Rain and G-Dragon.

6. History Maker

Banks has made history in the world of women’s wrestling. Not only was she one of the first women to ever compete in a major NXT pay-per-view, the Brooklyn match ended up being the Match of The Year forĀ Sports Illustrated.

7. Snoop Dogg Is Her Cousin

While this has little to do with Sasha Banks’ talent as a female wrestler, she does have a famous cousin, Snoop Dogg. Funnily enough, Snoop Dogg also got an induction into the WWE’s Hall of Fame.
