WWE’s Breakout Stars of 2018!

It has been a busy wrestling year. While some stars failed to leave a lasting impression, others were able to make themselves look amazing. Here are the breakout stars that stood out in the WWE this year.

The Riott Squad

Even though they did not obtain any titles or victories of note, The Riott Squad has made a lasting impression on the WWE Universe. No matter which rivalry they were involved in, and no matter the promos they did, it always looked good. The Riott Squad proves once and for all just how well NXT can prepare wrestlers for the main roster.

While all three members of The Riott Squad – Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan – deserve attention and success, Liv Morgan was the member that stood out most for me. Even though she is not the leader of The Riott Squad, she seems to be heading for future championship gold.

Elias

Much like The Riott Squad, Elias has not won any titles of note, but this does not mean he was not one of the breakout stars of 2018.

Elias originally appeared as a heel, insulting the crowd with cheap heat songs. However, the “Walk With Elias” chant became a massive success among fans. His current success puts him in line for the Intercontinental Championship belt in the nearby future.

Bianca Belair

Being a woman in wrestling can be difficult, but there are some rare stars that are multiple champion material. Many believed the NXT brand would not have another breakout star like Asuka, but then came Bianca Belair.

Bianca Belair has been one of the most impressive NXT superstars. From her promos to in-ring work, Belair is set to make it big on the main roster. She could also be the next in line for the NXT Women’s Championship.

Buddy Murphy

Even though Buddy Murphy did not stand out in NXT, he has become one of the biggest stars for the 205 Live brand. Known as “The Juggernaut,” Murphy finally obtained the prized Cruiserweight Championship in his homeland Australia this year.

Velveteen Dream

Originally a heel, Velveteen Dream is a stern fan favorite of the NXT brand. Even though he has not obtained the NXT Championship belt yet, Dream is only 23 years old and a top pick for wrestlers such as John Cena and Kurt Angle. Needless to say, Velveteen Dream will have a bright future in the WWE.

Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch might be the biggest breakout stars of 2018. Putting on an amazing heel turn, followed by one of the best promos of the year with Ronda Rousey, Becky has finally found some sturdy footing on the SmackDown Live brand.
