The expectation was that Mark Hunt would be fighting in the Octagon for the last time tonight at UFC Adelaide, and the feared slugger came up short against rising heavyweight, Justin Willis.

Hunt was firing off kicks to the legs and body of Willis early on, but after incurring a cut on his right shin, he used the technique less frequently. Although Hunt pressured throughout rounds one and two, he was repeatedly met with a stiff jab from the southpaw Willis.

Willis continued to pepper Hunt with jabs in round three and although Hunt continued to wade forward, he was unable to land any telling punches. After the final horn sounded it was pretty clear that Willis would be awarded the decision win, and he was.

In a classy move after the win, Willis gave Hunt the mic, who proceeded to announce fans will see him “somewhere else”. Tonight’s bout was the last on Hunt’s UFC contract.
