Recently Dustin Poirier called for a scrap with Tony Ferguson, while expressing his frustration that the lightweight division’s stalled out. But, it certainly looks like “El Cucuy” isn’t interested in fighting “The Diamond”.

Poirier campaigned for a fight with Ferguson since it’s not known yet when Khabib Nurmagomedov or Conor McGregor will be able to compete.  The two are still waiting to see what kind of disciplinary action they receive from the Nevada Commission, due to the post-fight brawl at UFC 229 in October. Since Khabib leaped over the cage to get at McGregor’s corner (Dillon Danis), the expectation is that the lightweight champ is going to receive some sort of suspension.

Well, following Poirier’s callout, Ferguson fired off this eyebrow-raising response via Twitter:

I Liked You Better When You Were Quiet Kid. Don’t Ruin A Good Thing You Got “Goin’… Diamond” @DustinPoirier TonyFergusonMMA Is Tops, Much More Efficient Than @TheNotoriousMMA & @TeamKhabib In The Same Day. I Already Know How To Beat You By The Way You Tweet. Sit Down

And really, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. Ferguson has won 11 straight fights and most definitely, should be fighting for the title next. So, “El Cucuy” has little to gain and a lot to lose by fighting Poirier.
