Kevin Owens Return Date? + WWE Backstage Illness

Kevin Owens has been off WWE television for several months now. He was written off television earlier, in order for him to undergo surgery to address knee issues. Now that he is on the mend, speculation of course turns to just when the popular Superstar will return.

Now we are hearing that Kevin Owens may finally be cleared to return to action in the month of February. The belief is that he will not be back in time for any appearance at January’s Royal Rumble, unfortunately. Because of the expected timing of his clearance. the thought is that WWE may hold him out for a return in some capacity for WrestleMania. What was not clear was if the return would be for an announced match, or rather a run-in during the show.

Either way, it will be great to have Kevin Owens back and healthy on either show. Considering the rash of injuries hitting the main roster talent over the last few months, returning Superstars are a welcomed sight indeed.

-Earlier we reported that Finn Balor was sent home early from an overseas tour, but details were scarce at the time. Now, details are coming more into focus. This time of year, many people end up coming down with an illness, and it turns out WWE Superstars are no different.

Balor was reportedly sent home due to an undisclosed illness, but he is not the only one to be suffering. Current head of the RAW Women’s Division, Alexa Bliss went on social media to say she too is sick. There’s been no confirmation of what either Superstar has, so we don’t yet know if the two cases are linked. Considering that the Superstars work closely with one another and often travel together, the odds are someone shared germs with someone else. It’s a safe bet that whatever bug hit Balor and Bliss, they won’t be the only two to have it.

The hope here is that WWE doesn’t see a repeat of what spread through the locker room last year, which saw Roman Reigns and others miss time. That time around, we saw AJ Styles fly up to do an unplanned special appearance. It also gave us Kurt Angle as a fill-in member of The Shield.

John Deegan

Introduced to professional wrestling in the 1980's thanks to Superstars and Saturday Night's Main Event, John's passion for the medium was reborn thanks to ECW in the 90's. A former in-ring "talent" with a career 0-2 record, he finds it more rewarding, and far less painful, to write about wrestling now.
