We’ve been fed a few subpar UFC cards lately, but this weekend’s UFC 231 pay-per-view is something to get excited about. Valentina Shevchenko and Joanna Jedrzejczyk are going to scrap for the vacant female flyweight belt. Gunnar Nelson is going to fight. Claudia Gadelha is going to fight. And if it actually happens, featherweight champ Max Holloway versus challenger Brian Ortega is going to be great.

You of course know why I say “if it happens”.

The last time these two were supposed to throw down, Holloway started acting all CTE-ish in the days leading up to the bout. And hell no to having anyone step into the Octagon if they’re already exhibiting concussion-like symptoms!

So let’s say Holloway makes it through his weight cut without slurring his words. What’s he going to be facing with Ortega? A dude with quick submission skills and dangerous hands.

Of course, we all know what Holloway’s got. He wrecked former champ Jose Aldo twice with his striking, grappling and grit. Putting the two of these guys together for sure means that the two best 145-pound fighters in the world are going at it.

Cross your fingers, folks. Let’s hope Holloway is okay so this fight can happen!
