Eddie Alvarez

After moving from the UFC to ONE Championship, both Eddie Alvarez and Demterious Johnson now have their promotional debuts booked.

Recently ONE announced that the former UFC champs are going to compete at its March 31st, “A New Era” card in Tokyo, Japan.

Alvarez (29-6) will be taking on Russia’s Timofey Nastyukhin (12-4). Alvarez will be fighting for the first time since he was stopped by Dustin Poirier in July. Nastyukhin, meanwhile, is coming off a knockout loss to  Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev in September. The fight is expected to be part of the opening round of ONE’s lightweight grand-prix.

Johnson (27-3-1) will take on Japan’s Yuya Wakamatsu (10-3) in what will be an opening bout for ONE’s flyweight grand-prix.

Johnson will be looking to get back on track after his historic reign as the UFC’s flyweight champ was ended by Henry Cejudo, via split decision, in August. In Wakamatsu’s previous fight, he dropped a decision to  Danny Kingad in September.

The card is going to be a stacked one, as three title fights are also booked for “A New Era”. Strawweight champ Xiong Jing Nan of China will defend her title against atomweight champ Angela Lee, middleweight champ Aung La  N Sang will take on Ken Hasegawa and lightweight champion Eduard Folayang will face Shinya Aoki.
