Dominick Cruz will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon in January, 2019, and he’ll do so against the hard-hitting John Lineker.

Recently the UFC announced that the former bantamweight champ will throw hands with Lineker on January 26th, at UFC 233. The bout will mark the first time Cruz (22-2) has fought since December, 2016, when he lost via decision to Cody Garbrandt. That loss was the renowned fighter’s first since 2007.

Due to a rash of injuries, Cruz has fought just three times now since 2014.

Lineker (31-8), meanwhile, hasn’t fought since this past May when he knocked out Brian Kelleher. The Brazilian fighter is 4-1 in his last 5 bouts.

So, this is a big addition to UFC 233, which will feature TJ Dillashaw challenging Henry Cejudo for the flyweight title.
