One would assume that with Brock Lesnar winning the Universal Title against Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel, Strowman would still be the top guy in the title picture.

According to reports, he will be – but he might not be alone. There are multiple guys the company is looking at, at the moment.

Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins

According to the Wrestling Observer newsletter, Seth Rollins is reportedly being considered for a title program with Lesnar. While the super-over Rollins is obviously in the beginning of a hot feud with his former Shield mate Dean Ambrose, don’t be surprised if that saga somehow wanders into the title picture.

Of course, Rollins is no stranger to holding top gold. But it’s been awhile since he battled for either the WWE or Universal title, and specifically since becoming babyface. Rollins also specifically mentioned Lesnar in his promo on Monday Night Raw this week. Was that foreshadowing?

Regardless, fans would no doubt relish seeing him “Burn it Down” with Lesnar.

Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre

Another name reportedly making the rounds within the company is Drew McIntyre, who was already reported this week to be getting a major push.

After a four-year hiatus from WWE, McIntyre returned to the main roster in April and has been nothing short of exceptional. Rumors of Vince McMahon being smitten by the 33-year-old Scotsman made waves and now it looks like those prophecies are officially upon us,” Comicbook.com reported on Wednesday. “According to WrestleVotes—a Twitter handle with ears behind WWE’s curtain—McIntyre’s main event push has begun and there may be no end in sight.”

“WWE has been high on Drew McIntyre for months now. The big push is indeed starting. They have major plans for him in 2019,” writes WrestleVotes.

McIntyre was Vince McMahon’s guy in his first run in WWE, and now that he’s back he’s significantly improved in every possible way, something both fans and obviously the company seem to agree on.

It’s hard to imagine WWE not putting a major title on McIntyre in the near future, and defeating Lesnar might be the best way to put the Scotsman over big time.

Braun Strowman

But don’t count out the Monster Among Men out.

Despite WWE being high on Rollins and McIntyre, Braun Strowman is still a top priority for the company. But Dave Meltzer has reported that Strowman’s knees might be injured at the moment, and this combined with reports that the big man has had some backstage heat might be temporary obstacles regarding another Strowman vs. Lesnar match.

But who will be the top pick to go against Lesnar?

If I had to choose, my money would be on Drew McIntyre.

As Mark Henry said recently on Sirius/XM’s Busted Open Radio:

“Ever since Drew came back and we stuck him with the grown ass man Drew McIntyre moniker, he has been stellar. His promos are priceless and he is unrivaled. Drew is grabbing the business and he’s doing things that a lot of the young people are not doing and that’s why he’s in this conversation that we’re talking about, as where he’s gonna be in the next year or two. I think that he will be champion. I think before next year is over, Drew McIntyre will be world champion.”

No one should be surprised if Mark Henry turns out to be right.
