The Universal Championship belt may be around Brock Lesnar’s waist at the moment, but there is no doubt the WWE will be building some competition for the Universal Championship. Of course, certain champions are more likely than others. Here are some of the favorites to become Universal Champion in 2019.

Drew McIntyre

Kurt Angle Drew McIntyre

After beating Kurt Angle, it is clear the WWE is trying to build Drew McIntyre even stronger than he already is. It is claimed that Vince favors McIntyre, which is not a surprise considering Drew was Vince’s “Chosen One” a couple of years ago.

While a Universal Championship run for Drew McIntyre is extremely likely, he probably will not gain the championship until or after WrestleMania. Brock Lesnar is set to keep the title for a while if rumor is to be believed. So, we will have to wait some time to see Drew as champion.

Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman

Strowman was a favorite to hold the Universal Title, but he seems to be always one match short. It looks like the WWE is hesitating to put the belt on Strowman and could be because of his behavior issues with backstage.

The truth of the matter is not clear, since there are no official statements explaining why Strowman has not been champion yet. Still, despite the rumors, Strowman is a stern fan favorite and a top pick for the Universal Championship.

Seth Rollins

When it comes down to picking a wrestler that is exciting to watch, Seth Rollins certainly makes the list. A multiple-time champion already, Seth Rollins could be the perfect pick as a Universal Champion.

Seth Rollins is currently embroiled in a feud with Dean Ambrose, so things have to play out there first before he goes for the WWE Universal Championship.

Elias

Elias

Elias’ popularity has been skyrocketing lately! Despite being a heel, the crowd Walks With Elias now more than ever. So, he would be another great pick for the WWE Universal Championship in 2019.

The WWE needs to keep building Elias as a serious competitor, as opposed to limiting his input to songs. Don’t get me wrong, the songs must be kept, but I would keep building him until he gets in the title picture. Maybe a future Money in the Bank winner next year.

Now you’ve seen my predictions, what are yours?
