Major WWE Star in Trouble with Management

Despite being called up to the main roster, NXT’s monster Lars Sullivan could be in some serious trouble with WWE management. Here’s the story.

The Grey Area?

Due to his forthcoming upgrade to the main roster, a prominent wrestling website reported on Lars Sullivan and his rather skewed views on consensual sex.

According to the site, Sullivan posted a lot of vulgar messages on a bodybuilder message board. Among his messages were homophobic hokes, KFC insults and to the people who eat there, and claiming he got with Ronda Rousey in 2005.

To make matters worse, Sullivan made this unforgivable statement:

“Not a troll thread, just a thought. And the thought is that there’s a grey area when it comes to sexual intercourse and rape. There’s 100% complete consensual sex when a woman will rip off her clothes and jump on you, then there’s levels that don’t quite reach 100% consent.”

“Most women like men to take control, at what point is it too much control? I’m not insinuating that the politician who spewed the nonsense about women controlling when they get pregnant by switching it off in their brain is right, he’s a complete moron. But the fact is there is a grey area when it comes to the definition of rape.”

The message was posted in 2011, so we are not talking decades. He also had one of his accounts banned during this time.

The WWE Example

I do not have to tell you that the statements made by Sullivan will do little for his popularity. Reading the statement myself, I think it’s insulting and stupid.

While I’m not a feminist, I am a strong believer in equality. Clearly, Lars has very little insight in the concept of rape and the women (and men) who go through it. I wasn’t a fan of Sullivan to begin with, so this is pretty much the nail in the coffin for me.

It is believed Sullivan will participate in TLC as Baron Corbin’s secret weapon. How he perform during the match will show the stance of the WWE.

Of course, it is not the first time the WWE has made bad decisions in terms of their brand image. Only recently, the company decided to go ahead with their Saudi pay-per-view, despite the evidence the Crown Prince had ordered the killing of a prominent journalist. So, Lars coming up to the main roster and getting a possible push is another great example of the WWE’s skewed ethics.
