For anyone around my age, when you first really started picking up interest in MMA and the UFC, names like Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz generated interest, headlines and talk.
The two had one of the best feuds in MMA history, with “The Iceman” getting the better of Ortiz in both bouts.
But how is it possible that we are sitting here, in November, of 2018, and the two former UFC light heavyweight champions are hours from squaring off again?
Oscar De La Hoya and his Golden Boy Promotions put it all together, and the two will be cashing rather large checks no matter how their bout goes down from The Forum in Los Angeles.
Liddell will make $250,000 in base salary for his first MMA fight since 2010. And he’ll be searching for his first win since 2007.
Ortiz, meanwhile, is bringing home $200,000 and fighting for the first time since 2017. Both will also earn more cash from the pay-per-view sales and other events around the fight card.
Will you tune in? And if so, are you doing so just to see the “circus” of what will go down between Liddell and Ortiz inside the cage after all these years, or do you expect an actual good match?
