Conor McGregor

This week more reports have come forth that the UFC is indeed, shuttering the men’s flyweight division. Well, more recently, Conor McGregor has taken a Twitter jab at ONE Championship’s CEO over the news…

There’s been rumors in recent weeks that the UFC was looking at shutting down the men’s 125 bracket, and following Demetrious Johnson’s move to ONE, it’s being reported that will happen. This, apparently, prompted McGregor to send the following comments at ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong:

You must now take all the 125lbers that have been let go, Chatri.
You talk all of this Martial Art and respect talk, yet your greed has directly cost more than half a fighting division it’s chance to earn income for their family.
Have respect @YODCHATRI.
Sign the division.

McGregor’s comments may be met with some scrutiny, as talk that the UFC might shut down the flyweight division is nothing new. Further, one could certainly argue that if the UFC had chosen to, they could have moved forward with the flyweight division, without Johnson. This aside, here’s hoping that ONE does bring on board some of the top flyweights who soon will no longer be part of the UFC.
