– It was a hectic week as Roman Reigns revealed his leukemia returned and WWE finally decided to keep Crown Jewel going. With everything that happened, it is understandable that fans might not even know the Evolution pay per view is Sunday as RAW and SmackDown barely hyped the historic show.
The internal reaction from WWE employees is that the promotion never saw the show as a big deal according to comments from Dave Meltzer during the Wrestling Observer Radio. He continued that Stephanie McMahon made the announcement months ago on RAW as a way to brag and also to remove any heat since she did travel to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel. In Saudi Arabia, women do not have equal rights like men. Female superstars were not allowed to compete during the Greatest Royal Rumble or even be backstage. After females appeared in a taped video package to promote the WWE Network, it angered several officials in Saudi Arabia.
– Speaking of Evolution, WWE has been practicing RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Nikki Bella for several weeks as they are believed to be the main event. This is nothing new as WWE has been careful how they book Rousey. They typically go over all her promos and have her matches rehearsed several times before the big day as they want to keep the character strong. Also, Rousey is getting help from Paul Heyman; as she trust his abilities as he has been a fan of the former UFC champion for years.
