WWE Champion Removed Injured

– WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne is reportedly injured. He was pulled from Destiny Wrestling’s Raising’s card this weekend and being replaced by Tyler Bate and Trent Seven as seen in the tweet below. There are no details on the extent of the injury.

The injury comes as Dunne recently surpassed 500 days as champion. He is about to surpass Brock Lesnar’s reigns as Universal Champion, which makes Dunne the longest reigning champion of the modern era.

The 24 year old has been one of the biggest standouts since WWE tried to launch a UK division. After coming up short in the finals of a tournament to crown the inaugural champion, Dunne won the gold at Takeover Chicago; in a match that many considered the best performance of 2017. He last appeared on NXT in September, working a no contest with Ricochet after the Undisputed Era got involved.

As of now, Dunne has been champion for 501 days. Hopefully, WWE does not have to strip him of the title. Unless the injury will put Dunne out of action for many months, the promotion could probably get away with just keeping him off TV with little explanation needed.

– According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there could be some bug changes headed to NXT. WWE wants to expand the brand into the global market. At first, NXT would only hold shows in Florida. While that remains their headquarters, they have gone on the road and their Takeover cards have been able to match what pay per views from RAW and SmackDown draws.

Thanks to new deals like the one with Saudi Arabia, WWE has an increase in revenue. They are looking to add WWE Performance Centers around the globe to make it easier to sign talent in those areas. As of now, WWE has not made any official decisions on the expansion.
