Give Nate Diaz credit for sticking to his guns.
Diaz, who will not fight next month at UFC 230 after Dustin Poirier suffered an injury, told Ariel Helwani that he will wait for another bout. And it doesn’t involve Poirier.
Asked @NateDiaz209 what’s next now that Dustin Poirier is out of UFC 230. His response?
“I’ll just fight Khabib when he’s ready.”

That’s right, fresh off watching Nurmagomedov maul Conor McGregor for the better part of four rounds, Diaz wants a fight with the reigning UFC lightweight champion.
One issue, though, is that Nurmagomedov is likely to face a suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission for his role in the melee after the win over McGregor this past weekend. That could be anywhere from three-to-six months sidelined.
Diaz hasn’t fought since 2016 when he dropped a majority decision to McGregor. His last win came a few months earlier than that when he submitted the former two-division UFC champion.
