Tony Ferguson’s return to the Octagon was a triumphant one tonight at UFC 229, but the former interim lightweight champ had to battle through some dicey moments, before recording the win.

Anthony Pettis cracked Ferguson with hard leg kicks right out of the gate, which appeared to hurt the surgically repaired knee of “El Cucuy”. But, Ferguson found his range, and began to pepper Pettis with strikes.

In round two, Pettis stunned Ferguson with a hard shot, and then moments later, tagged the dynamic fighter again. Ferguson, however, managed to recover, and proceeded to bloody Pettis with a series of strikes.

After the second round, Pettis informed his corner that he had broken his hand, and his head coach, Duke Roufus, called the fight.
