With the UFC lightweight title being defended this Saturday night at UFC 229 when Khabib Nurmagomedov meets Conor McGregor, Tony Ferguson has a perfect opportunity make a statement.

Ferguson returns for the first time since late last year when he faces Anthony Pettis in the co-main event from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

In his last fight, the former Ultimate Fighter winner claimed the interim UFC lightweight title, besting Kevin Lee for his 10th consecutive victory. During that run, he has bested the likes of former champion Rafael dos Anjos, Josh Thomson and Edson Barboza.

Now, with the spotlight on the 155-pound division, Ferguson wants nothing more than to add Pettis’ name to his resume.
