UFC 230 now has a main event, as Daniel Cormier will defend his heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis.

The event takes place November 3 from Madison Square Garden in New York City, as Cormier puts his belt and a possible 2019 fight with Brock Lesnar on the line. “DC” was looking to wait until next year to compete again, but without any other possible headline bouts for the card, the UFC was able to put it all together quickly.

Lewis just scored a third round TKO over Alexander Volkov at UFC 229 and told reporters after that he wasn’t ready to face someone like Cormier until he improved his conditioning. Well, he’ll have just a matter of weeks to do just that vs. the reigning UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion.

Plans for Valentina Shevchenko vs. Sijara Eubanks for the vacant female flyweight belt are off the card, as Shevchenko will now meet Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 231 in December for the belt.
