Former UFC champion Conor McGregor took to social media early Monday morning to comment on this past weekend.

McGregor, like in his first statement, kept it short and sweet.

“We lost the match but won the battle,” he wrote. “The war goes on.”

McGregor suffered a fourth round submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in his first UFC fight in almost two years this past Saturday night at UFC 229. The bout was for the lightweight title, a belt “Notorious” previously held before being stripped.

The only other public comments McGregor has made came hours after the loss when he wrote on social media “Good knock. Looking forward to the rematch.”

After the fight, Nurmagomedov took the battle outside the Octagon to Dillon Danis and other members of McGregor’s fight team. While that was going on, McGregor was being attacked by teammates of Nurmagomedov’s after he became engaged in another altercation.

The incident remains under investigation by the Nevada Athletic Commission, though McGregor declined to press any charges on the people who stormed him inside the Octagon.
