One of my favorite female wrestlers of all time, Lita, has been facing some criticism regarding her upcoming battle against Mickie James at Evolution. Some Wrestling fans believe that Lita should stay retired. Now Lita has broken her silence and vowed to deliver at the Evolution pay-per-view.

Not Stealing the Spotlight

During an interview with The Sun Sport, Lita made it clear she had no intentions of stealing the spotlight from the current women on the roster. That being said, Lita deserves some spotlight in my opinion. She was one of the most iconic female wrestlers of her time, why should she not get some time in the sun for all the hard work she put in the women’s division over the years?

When talking to The Sun, Lita said she found it odd that her and Trish’s matches were announced first.

“… we are not even part of the current roster, even though I do think it’s interesting for people to see us come back.”

I could not agree more. I cannot wait to see Lita and Trish in the ring again. We had an appetizer at the women’s Royal Rumble, but I cannot wait to get an even bigger match!

She Will Deliver!

“We just happen to be in the matches that were announced first and we are going to deliver – you’ll see.” – Lita

I do not doubt in my mind the Extreme Diva will deliver. People seem to forget that Lita was one of the people who made women’s wrestling into what it is today. Without wrestlers like Lita, the women’s division would be far different from what it is today.

Sometimes it angers me to see a double standard in wrestling. If the Rock came back for a wrestling match, fans would have zero problems with the return. They would even demand the match being put on the main event. However, a female veteran returns and certainly there is tons of criticism. The world can be unfair, even more so if you are in the public eye. It does seem like female wrestlers carry the brunt of the critics.

Male veterans get tons of respect, just think about the Undertaker who is wrestling only a few shows a year. Why can’t that same respect be given to someone like Lita or Trish Stratus? You accept a champion like Brock Lesnar for months, and yet you criticize someone with more passion for the business in her little toe than Brock Lesnar has in his whole body? Gimme a break!

Whoever is criticizing Trish and Lita, shame on you! I would like to see you do what they have done and still do in the ring. That’s my two cents.
