The NWA is making a comeback! The organization that essentially founded professional wrestling has seen ups and downs since WCW broke away from the organization. Now, under the direction of Smashing Pumpkins head Billy Corgan the National Wrestling Alliance is making a big comeback. The association will host a massive ’70th Anniversary’ event in Nashville, Tennessee on October 21st. The current champion, former TNA champion Nick Aldis (Magnus) is defending the title at indie Supercard “ALL IN” against Cody Rhodes. It seems likely the Rhodes is winning the title at All IN (his father Dusty held the title multiple times) making this card in Nashville can’t miss. THE NWA used to be the organization above professional wrestling not just in the United States, but the whole world. The “World’s Heavyweight Champion” was considered the best wrestler and the biggest draw. I don’t know if the NWA will ever return to its former glory, but I love that Corgan is using this wrestling boom as an opportunity to revive such a prestigious name and brand.
