We Lost A Third Wrestling Legend Over The Weekend

Lost in the noise and news about the loss of Nikolai Volkoff and Bryan Christopher was the death of another wrestler who attained a level of fame in the South and Texas during the 1980s and 1990s. Brickhouse Brown passed away Sunday after a long bout with prostate cancer. He was 57. Born Frederick Seawright, Brown was a top-heel in the Mid-South, Deep South, and Texas territories from the 80s through the late-90s. He was trained by Eddie Graham and Terry Funk and got his start in Texas wrestling in the San Antonio territory.

He would wrestle Funk in the USWA.

After starting out as a tag wrestler, Brown achieved his first big singles success when he defeated Jerry Lawler for the AWA Southern Heavyweight Title. He would win several more singles titles in Memphis and Texas. While wrestling for USWA he beat the future Rock (then known as Flex Kavana) for the Tag Titles.

Here’s a match of Brown wrestling Dirty Dutch Mantell (aka Zeb Coulter)

Brown also took part in a controversial racist angle involving the Stud Stable, you can read and watch the details of it here.
