The upcoming UK championship tournament will be worth watching. We had to wait for a while, but Triple H revealed the details on the WWE UK Championship tournament immediately following NXT TakeOver: New Orleans.

Two-Night Tournament Run

The WWE UK Championship Tournament will run over the course of two nights. During the first night, the tournament will take place to determine the challenger for the UK Championship. On the second night, the challenger will take on current WWE UK Champion, Pete Dunne, for the WWE UK Championship.

In addition to the tournament and the match for the WWE UK Championship, Triple H also revealed that there will be some NXT talent on the WWE UK Championship tournament show. So, if you were not interested before, you should be now! Just remember the epic show NXT put on for NXT TakeOver: New Orleans.

Location and Dates Of the WWE UK Championship Tournament

The WWE UK Championship tournament will take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The two-day tournament will start on June 18 and continue until June 19. With the location and dates of the WWE UK Championship announced, the WWE Universe can expect a four-day WWE extravaganza! Money in the Bank is currently scheduled for June 17, while NXT TakeOver will take place on June 16. I cannot wait.

WWE will broadcast the tournament on the WWE network on Monday, June 25 and Tuesday, June 26th.

WWE announced the first eight competitors. They range in style from mat wrestling technicians to a masked and horned journeyman!

Here are the first round matches that will take place on NXT TV and the UK musical festival “Download Fest”

The Commissioner: Johnny Saint

WWE named British wrestling icon and former WWE trainer Johnny Saint the commissioner of WWE’s UK division. Saint revolutionized wrestling in the UK with his “escapology” and influenced dozens of wrestlers from Daniel Bryan to Kassius Ohno and William Regal.

Meet the Previous WWE UK Champions

There is no guarantee we will get a new champion in June, but it is still worth having a closer look at the previous and current WWE UK Champions. So, if you are not up to date, be sure to read our info below.

Tyler Bate

Tyler Bate was the first winner of the WWE UK Championship. Funny enough, Bate was partly trained by Pete Dunne, who he beat for the WWE UK Championship.

Before joining the WWE, Bate had a remarkably short amount of indie experience, especially compared to some of the other people on the current roster. His wrestling career started in 2014; this is when he started to wrestle for Preston City Wrestling.

Bate is quite young, explaining his lack of indie experience. When he won the WWE UK championship, Bate was only 19; this makes him the youngest singles champion and youngest inaugural champion in WWE history.

Pete Dunne

Current WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne (Peter Thomas England) a.k.a. “the Bruiserweight” is one of the most interesting wrestlers on WWE’s UK roster. His style is a combination of striking and submission maneuvers, but the character he created for himself stands out most.

Pete Dunne has an extensive indie track record. He began training as a pro wrestler at the tender age of 12, which means his passion for wrestling dates back to 2005. He would start working at his first wrestling promotion in 2011, which was called “Attack! Pro Wrestling”. After working for other wrestling promotions such as Michinoku Pro Wrestling and Chikara, he would be picked up by the WWE in 2016.

I believe Pete Dunne has elevated the WWE UK Championship, making many people interested in watching the tournament. Will he retain? Guess we have to tune in!
