wedding southwest flight

These days there are a lot of horror stories surrounding airlines. But, passengers flying on Southwest recently got a happy surprise when they suddenly became guests at a surprise wedding on their five-hour flight.

The pilot officiated the wedding of Michael and Renee who met on Match.com. The couple was flying from Las Vegas to Baltimore. They had just gotten married at a Vegas wedding chapel and were still in their wedding attire for their flight. The Southwest crew decided to throw them a second wedding, miles up in the sky. It was memorable not only for Michael and Renee but for all of the passengers, too. They experienced the joys of attending a wedding without even having to bring a present!

As you can imagine, people aboard this flight recorded it on their cell phones. Renee had a long and narrow aisle to walk down as Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” played over the speakers. As you can see in the video below, the bride wore a beautiful white dress and veil while carrying yellow roses. She playfully danced her final steps up to her groom.

In typical Southwest fashion, the pilot showed off his sense of humor by trying to get people to join the airline’s rapid rewards programs and book future flights.

“I Michael, take you Renee to be my wife, my partner in life, and my travel companion, when I become a Rapid Rewards Member today, tomorrow and forever,” the pilot said.

Michael and Renee had a lot of fun with their bonus wedding. After renewing their vows, the bride and groom danced down the aisle to Chris Brown’s “Forever.”

That is a flight the passengers won’t soon forget! The wedding occurred the final 45 minutes of the trip and since they didn’t have actual presents, the passengers gave the bride and groom slips of paper with marital advice.
