Chris Jericho is wrestling’s hottest free agent. Wrestling in Japan and the WWE and even hosting his own wrestling-themed cruise. But his free agent status just took a major turn. At New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s “Dominion” PPV, the Ayatollah of RocknRolla faced off against Los Ingornables De Japon leader Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP Intercontinental title. Many expected Jericho to lose to Naito. Naito is NJPW’s favorite anti-hero who isn’t afraid to pick a fan with anyone. Obviously, Jericho seemed like a perfect fit to “put the guy over” as they like to say. What wasn’t expected was Jericho would actually win the belt. But, wrestling is always a surprise.

It was a big night for American/Western wrestlers. Americans or Canadians won most of NJPW’s major belts. The Young Bucks won their first ever Heavyweight Tag Title belts (moving up from Jr Tag Titles) Michael Elgin won the NEVER Openweight title (think the US title in terms of place on the card) and Kenny Omega defeated Okada for the Heavyweight title.

Does this mean Jericho won’t be back in WWE for a while? Probably, but Jericho has his own schedule. He wrestles where he wants when he wants so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Chris Jericho back in WWE soon.
