When hunting for deer, silence is necessary. Comedian Bill Engvall of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour made a big mistake when he forgot this important fact and decided to take his wife deer hunting.
Knowing The Basics
The trip was perfectly timed to get a deer, but his wife was more than a little distracting. She clearly didn’t know what she was in for.
If you’re going to take someone hunting, you have to make sure they are prepared to actually hunt and understand the fundamentals of it. For anyone on their first trip hunting, it’s important to have a discussion and some skills assessments prior to going.
Bill failed miserably by not properly preparing his wife for what she should expect!
First, she wore bright colors and even brought her purse! Poor Bill was trying to blend in while she was almost seeking attention from the deer.
A Turn For The Worse
Worse than that was when the time arrived, she had to go to the bathroom! When you have to go, you have to go, but when you’re hunting, this can be a major problem!
As you can imagine, when she saw the deer, not only did she not want to shoot it, but she didn’t want Bill to either!
She couldn’t grasp why he would want to shoot a deer while they were hunting for deer!
He should have known he was in for trouble when she asked why someone would make a sign for deer when they can’t read!
Rethinking The Experience
Bill should have just turned around and taken her home right then! He was more likely to get a deer in a “drive hunt” than he was getting one up in the tree stand with his wife!
There are plenty of women who can hunt, but Bill Engvall‘s wife is obviously not one of them! I don’t think he’ll make that mistake again!
