1000 happy meals homeless

A simple kind gesture can really help lift someone’s spirits. When someone is down, a stranger’s encouragement can be a real pick me up. A California man who multiplied a kind gesture by 1000 not only the lifted spirits of many homeless people, his deed is helping encourage others to pay it forward, too.

Derek Deso ordered 1000 Happy Meals to feed homeless people on the streets of Los Angeles. As you can imagine, an order of 1000 Happy Meals brought the drive-thru line at McDonald’s to a halt. But, it was all for a great cause and the beginning of a very interesting night.

When they drove off, it was incredible to see that many Happy Meals filling a car! There was hardly any room for the people!

One by one, Derek and his friends handed out 1000 Happy Meals. They were greeted with many thank yous and smiles as they handed out all these meals to people living on the streets. It’s inspiring to watch, but also a sad reality that such a need exists.

Derek’s video appears to have had a positive effect on people watching online. It is encouraging others to help. Hannah Notarangelo wrote, “If anyone lives in SoCal and would like to meet up in Downtown LA to hand out lunches message me I can’t afford 1000 happy meals but I can do sandwiches, chips, fruit, and water or juice I’m also going to do care packages (deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, wipes, feminine products etc.).”

Perhaps this money would have been better spent going to a soup kitchen to help the homeless, but the goal appears to be to encourage people to help. This video has gotten a lot of attention and has lit a fuse to get others to pay it forward themselves.

Share this to applaud Derek’s kind deed!
