Even though this match will take place in the pre-show, it does feature two of the biggest stars from the 205 Live brand: Mustafa Ali and Cedric Alexander. Who will win this match? Let’s see what our experts think! The Wrestlemania Kickoff starts at 5pm eastern on the WWE Network and the USA Network

Sandra’s Predictions:

I am always a bit disappointed in the lack of interest for 205 Live, since the skill of these guys cannot be underestimated! Still, things are looking up for the brand, since some amazing changes have been made, leading Mustafa Ali and Cedric Alexander to fight for the Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania 34!

When it comes to the winner of this match, it could go either way. However, I am taking into account the fact that Cedric Alexander already has a Championship reign under his belt. So, it is could be a good idea to put the belt on Mustafa Ali instead.

There is no heel in this match, since both Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali have been faces for a while; this makes deciding on the winner even harder for our team. Still, I believe for the brand to move forward, a new champion such as Mustafa Ali is in order.

Mustafa Ali has been impressing me for years, so I am happy to see he is getting an opportunity to shine on the grandest stage of them all. Ali has this ability to get the crowd hyped up with his wrestling alone, which is bound to prove useful at WrestleMania. While many fans watch Raw and SmackDown faithfully, not everyone watches 205 Live and this could be a problem where crowd reactions are concerned. Still, if Ali runs with it and uses his ability to get the crowd with him, he could draw a lot of people to 205 Live after WrestleMania 34. While Cedric Alexander would not be a bad champion, I think it might be time for Ali to shine and see what he could do to elevate the 205 Live brand.

Making Mustafa Ali a champion could have benefits for future feuds too. Cedric had loads of rivalries with people on the roster already, which leaves the options limited. The same does not apply to Mustafa Ali, who could really shine as the Cruiserweight Champion.

Of course, there are no guarantees that the WWE will see things the same way. So, I am in no way 100% certain the WWE is going to give the win to Mustafa Ali. Still, I look forward to the match either way.

Katie’s Predictions:

It’s hard for me to pick a winner for this match because I admittedly haven’t paid any sort of attention to the Cruiserweight division since it was taken off Raw, which is unfortunate because I’ve heard that the tournament for the vacant Cruiserweight Championship has been a worthy callback to the Cruiserweight Classic. The division is clearly doing better now that Triple H is in charge, but I think the decision to rob of them of wider exposure on Raw was a poor one.

Anyway, on to the contenders. With Neville gone (no, I’m still not over it), Cedric Alexander and Mustafi Ali are legitimately my two favorite cruiserweights, so I’m happy to see them getting the recognition they deserve. I had the pleasure of watching Alexander wrestle live both for Evolve and my little hometown promotion, Nova Pro Wrestling, and he was exceedingly impressive both times, as per usual. Ali was a standout for me in the Cruiserweight Classic, which is saying something because the entire tournament was fantastic. So, given that these two are arguably the best the Cruiserweight division has to offer, who should be crowned the new champion?

Again, I’m basing this prediction entirely on hearsay, and I’ve heard that Ali’s promos the last few weeks have been fire. Furthermore, Alexander already has one Cruiserweight Championship reign under his belt, and it’s my personal opinion that WWE robbed Ali of his first shot at the title with the Enzo Amore experiment. So, I think it’s Ali’s time to shine at WrestleMania.

Hunter’s Predictions:

In 2014, the first year I ever went to WrestleMania, I watched Cedric Alexander wrestle in front of 400 highly inebriated fans in a warehouse down the road from the Superdome. He put on such an amazing show that I stumbled up to him and told him that he was going to be a star on the big time. Four years later, he’s about to be at WrestleMania vying for a title.

Unfortunately, I don’t think it is Cedric’s night. WWE has already invested a lot in Mustafa Ali. He is the high-flying positive Muslim babyface the company needs in order to play in the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent. Beyond that, Ali is an incredible wrestler who worked and earned his way to this spot.

I am not bothered that this is going on during the pre-show. It gives the two plenty of time to show off. If they were forced onto this already stacked Mania card, they’d be given seven minutes and the crowd would be dead. Instead, they’ll get a prime spot to show off in front of the most hardcore fans. Mustafa wins a real banger.
