Are you tired of receiving those annoying credit card offers in the mail? So was I until I discovered this simple trick. In a matter of minutes, you can stop receiving credit card offers in the mail forever. And, it’s completely free!

Instantly Stop Receiving Credit Card Offers

Literally, in a matter of minutes, you can choose to no longer receive any pre-selected credit card offers again from the four largest credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax, TransUnion, and Innovis.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to reducing the amount of junk mail in your box.

Step 1: Visit OptOutPrescreen.com

The only legitimate site to opt-out of pre-selected credit card offers is OptOutPrescreen.com.

This is the OptOutPrescreen.com Homepage

Once you are on the official homepage of OptOutPrescreen, click the blue “Click Here to Opt-In or Opt-Out Button.”

Step 2: Opt-Out Forever or Only For Five Years

After clicking the blue button on the homepage, you will be taken to a menu where you have three different options.

  1. Opt-In to Receive Firm (Preselected) Credit Card Offers
  2. Opt-Out of Firm Credit Card Offers for the Next Five Years
  3. Permanent Opt-Out of Firm Credit Card Offers

If you never want to receive an offer again, choose the third option, “Permanent Opt-Out By Mail.” You will have to mail a form into the processing center that includes your signature. Until the form is received, OptOutPrescreen will begin removing your name from firm offers for the next five years.

Maybe you plan on applying for a new credit card in a few years once your credit score improves or you repay your current loan balances. If you aren’t planning on needing a new credit card within the next five years, you can choose this option. The entire application is completed digitally and you do not have to mail in a form to confirm your selection.

Finally, if you previously chose to opt-out of credit card offers, you can select the opt-in button to begin receiving credit card offers in the mail again.

Choose either of the opt-out options to no longer receive a preselected offer for at least the next five years.

Step 3: Enter Your Personal Information

So the credit bureaus know exactly who to stop sending the offers to, you will need to provide the following information on the next page:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Social Security Number
  • Date of Birth

This is the information credit card companies require you to submit when you apply for a new credit card, loan, or bank account. This is the only time you will have to submit your personal details during the opt-out process.

As long as you don’t choose to permanently stop receiving credit card offers, you are finished after this step. Otherwise, you need to proceed to Step #4 once your personal information has been entered.

Step 4: Mail-In The Opt-Out Form (Permanent Opt-Outs Only)

If you choose to opt-out of receiving credit card offers permanently (like I did), you will have to print out a form and sign your name before mailing it to the processing center. Remember, you will only have your name removed from the credit card offers database for the next five years if you decide to not mail the form in.

Depending on the last time you printed and mailed a letter, this step alone could take as much time as the online portion of the opt-out process. Once the form has been mailed in, you can expect to stop receiving offers within a month once the current promotional campaigns have finished.

You Will Still Receive Some Offers (Even If You Opt-Out)

Even though you decide to opt-out permanently or only for five years, you will still receive some offers. These offers can come from your current banks. For example, my wife and I still receive an offer from our mortgage. We will most likely continue receiving an offer every few months until we payoff the entire mortgage. The same thing can be said if you apply for other types of loans including auto loans and personal loans. Since you have a relationship with the bank, this can be an easy way to get a new credit card if it has a good rewards program, but, they also want more of your business so the other credit card companies cannot get it instead.

Why You Should Stop Receiving Credit Card Offers

Here are a few reasons why you should stop receiving credit card offers in the mail:

You might receive several offers for the first few weeks until your name is completely removed from the credit card company databases. The delisting process is just like the National Do Not Call Registry if you have ever signed up for that.

Another potential downside to opting-out is that you won’t know if you are already for pre-qualified for a new credit card. For instance, several credit card companies let you enter your information into their website to see if any offers are available. Seeking pre-qualification can prevent you from wasting a hard credit inquiry on your credit report that can instantly drop your credit score 10 to 20 points. Instead, you will receive an error message as the credit card companies cross-reference the credit bureau pre-qualified lists to show which cards you can get without running a credit check.

How To Start Receiving Credit Card Offers In The Mail Again

Let’s say you change your mind and want to start receiving credit card offers again. All you have to do is go back to OptOutPrescreen.com and click the “Opt-In” button. It only takes a few minutes to complete the process and is 100% electronic. Within a few weeks, you can begin receiving credit card offers again where you can apply and not be denied.

There are two primary reasons you might choose to receive credit card offers:

If you can responsibly pay your credit card balance every month, receiving offers because you like to churn credit card bonuses or to simply track how your credit score improves can be worth receiving the offers.

Summary

If you are like most people, you receive more junk mail than good mail. On some days, you might receive several credit offers that you will never apply for.  Many times you will continue to receive the exact same offers every single month. In a matter of minutes, you will no longer be annoyed by those junk mail offers again.
