Believe it or not, in Randy Orton’s long and storied career in WWE he has never held the United States title. It is the only WWE title (not including the Universial) that has eluded him during his time here.
The moment for that to change came at Fastlane. In a slow and old-school bout, Orton and Bobby Roode put on a clinic in telling a story and WORKING SOME HOLDS. But in order to win, the Viper struck at just the right place…OUT OF NOWHERE!
I am very surprised that Orton won here. But it sort of makes sense, what does not make sense is that Jinder Mahal is going to be squeezed into this match for a Triple Threat at Wrestlemania.
With that, Randy joins Chris Jericho, The Big Show, The Miz, Kurt Angle, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose as current roster members who are in the “Grand Slam” club of wrestlers who have won a Primary (WWE/Universial) championship, tag championship and both the IC and US titles.
Congrats, Randy! You deserved it.
