Jeff Hardy was arrested Saturday night near his home in North Carolina for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Hardy allegedly ran his car off the road.

Here’s more via PWInsider:

Hardy, 40-years old, was arrested at 10:20 PM on 3/10 at 4545 Concord Pkwy South, according to the Cabarrus County Sherriff’s Office. He was released a little over an hour later at 11:24 PM. No details have been released yet on the circumstances leading to the arrest.

WWE’s comment was pretty standard.

“Jeff Hardy is responsible for his own personal actions. We are investigating the matter and awaiting information from local law enforcement officials.”

Jeff’s brother Matt, however, decided to answer a bit differently.

Truly committed to his “Woken” persona, did Matt channel his bizarre time-traveling alter-ego to take a slight dig at his brother?

Is it possible the Hardys will use this incident as fuel for a feud? That isn’t outside of the realm of possibility. The family is known for bringing profoundly personal and potentially embarrassing matters into the wrestling ring to further a story. Jeff and Matt’s issues with drugs and alcohol have often been used. Matt even used Lita cheating on him with Edge to create one of the most compelling feuds in recent memory.

That’s the most likely explanation. The Hardys are close and live on the same sprawling compound. They’ve feuded against each other only a few times in their careers, but each time has been excellent. Here’s hoping that something good can come out of this sad situation.

As we said previously, Jeff will be back in WWE soon. This is not considered a particularly serious crime by Hardy, especially since no one was harmed and it occurred when he was away from the company.
