Ami Brown's Cancer

It appears the Brown family just received a Christmas miracle. Ami, who has been battling advanced lung cancer for a good portion of the year, is out of the hospital and able to celebrate with her husband and family, but that’s not all.

“Alaskan Bush People” fans who tuned into the family’s Christmas special were treated to the news that after two rounds of chemotherapy, Ami’s lungs are clear, according to her doctor. This is incredibly wonderful news because there had been so many alarming reports after Ami’s weight dropped dramatically.

Billy said, “Her lungs are clear. She’s still weak and she has a cough and all that, but if you look inside her eyes that’s the best part because Ami’s back. She’s inside there, and she wasn’t for a while.”

Viewers got to follow Ami when she saw her oncologist Dr. Deborah Wong, who told Ami during the televised appointment, “It sounds like you bounced back really well. We don’t know what the future will hold. It’s kind of out of our hands, but there’s every single reason to be hopeful and absolutely optimistic.”

“You were pretty sick, but you got through it. I think that’s a testament to, you know, the strength of your will but also the strength and resolve of your entire family,” Dr. Wong added.

Ami’s weight is rebounding. After dropping down to 89 pounds, the Brown family matriarch is back up to 102 pounds.

The Christmas episode also included a surprise for Ami from her children. They decorated for the holiday and had a dinner to celebrate being able to spend Christmas with their mother. Video from the episode is below. The children state the best Christmas gift of all is being able to spend it with their mom.

What amazing news for this family! They left Alaska so Ami could get medical treatment for her cancer. They might not be in Alaska, but at least they are able to celebrate Christmas together.

Share this story if you are happy that Ami is with her family for Christmas!
