The Nature Boy Ric Flair almost left us a few months back. Over the Summer, Flair was hospitalized and placed in a medically induced coma after his vital organs began shutting down. Years of hard living caused this health scare. ESPN captured some of the wilder stories in a recent documentary.

A lot of us assumed that this was the end of Flair being on WWE television. Years of going 100 MPH finally caught up to him, and it was time for Flair to take a break. Even when WWE was in Charlotte, North Carolina and his daughter fighting for the Smackdown Women’s Title, we didn’t expect Naitch to show up.  After Charlotte triumphed over Natalya to win the title, she addressed her father who was “resting at home” and dedicated the victory to him. As she walked to the back, the familiar “Also Sprach Zarathustra” began to play and Ric Flair came out to thunderous applause. It was an emotional moment. Watch it below.

Is Ric Flair Back?

While Flair is retired from in-ring competition, it seems like Flair has mostly recovered from his health scare. He and will be in attendance at the Starrcade event next week in Greensboro, NC and will be “reunited” with his fellow Four Horsemen at a few independent events over the next few months. This is great news. I honestly thought Flair was going to out of the spotlight for good. But I forgot that Flair survived a plane crash AND Jim Herd’s handling of WCW. Flair is tough, and he’s driven. The power of his will brought him back from the brink of death. I only hope now that Flair can see that he has to slow down. He doesn’t need to be on the move all the time.
