Thomas Gunderson was shot in the leg at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on Sunday night. He is one of over 500 people who were wounded when bullets rained down upon them by a shooter in a Mandalay Bay hotel room which was adjacent to the concert.

The President and First Lady stopped by Gunderson’s hospital room and were surprised at how they were received. Despite still have a bullet lodged in his leg, the injured man stood up to greet them. He posted on Instagram that he will never lay down when the President comes to shake his hand, even with his present injuries. Inspiring video of him greeting the Trumps is below and its something that you will want to see! He is clearly in pain, but he is determined to stand for his country and his President!

The day before the President’s visit, Gunderson shared a picture of his injury. The location of where the bullet struck his leg is evidence of what a sacrifice it must have been for him to stand. But, he felt giving that respect was the right thing to do, so he stood.

The injured Gunderson shared a picture with FLOTUS and POTUS. In that post, he called for the country to come together despite our differences. He also stated President Trump invited him to the White House. That certainly is an invitation that Gunderson will accept

In today’s highly polarized world, respect often takes a back seat. There is a reason this video has gone viral. Gunderson was clearly in a lot of pain and shaken after surviving such a horrific event. Still, he respects the office of the president enough that he wanted to stand. Nobody forced him!

Share this to show others what respect truly looks like! Bravo, Thomas Gunderson!
