In the past, one of the only ways to watch your favorite NFL game was to purchase DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket or visiting a sports bar. Now you can stream NFL games from your house without a cable or satellite tv subscription. It’s easier than ever to watch your favorite teams and cut the cord at the same time!

Over-the-Air Antenna

Monthly Cost: Free

Before you cut the cord, you need to make sure you can pickup the local channels with an over-the-air antenna. Entering your street address and zip code into Channel Master will help you determine what type of antenna (set-top, attic-mounted, roof-mounted) will be required to get good image quality.

You might be able to stream your local channels with the streaming recommendations mentioned below, but, not every channel is available on every platform.

CBS All Access

Monthly Cost: $5.99

Due to contractual rights, some streaming platforms will not stream your local CBS affiliate. A simple fix is to subscribe to CBS All Access for $5.99 per month.

The only catch is you can only stream your local CBS channel. This allows you to watch the local AFC broadcasts and the Thursday night games aired on CBS.

When football isn’t broadcast, you can still watch live local programming and watch your favorite past and present CBS shows on demand!

Sling TV

Monthly Cost: $20-$40

Sling TV is the most cost-effective option to stream NFL games. If you get your local channels (CBS, Fox, NBC) with an antenna, you only have to pay $20 per month for ESPN with the Sling Orange package. As some Thursday Night Football games are exclusively aired on the NFL Network, you will need to pay $25 per month for the Sling Blue package that lets you stream the NFL Network, but doesn’t include ESPN. To get both networks, you will need to opt for the Orange + Blue Package combo package that costs $40 per month for ESPN and NFL Network.

Select local tv markets are also able to be live streamed on Sling TV. By entering your zip code, you will instantly be able to tell if you can stream your local ABC, Fox, or NBC network.

PlayStation VUE

Monthly Cost: $39.99-$44.99

Another up and coming network is PlayStation Vue, and you don’t need a PlayStation gaming system to stream your favorite NFL games.

Sony’s basic Access package costs $39.99 per month and gives you (potential) access to every local tv channel plus ESPN.

For $44.99 per month, the Core package will let you watch the NFL Network too.

If you enjoy NFL RedZone, you can purchase the $10 Sports add-on if you have the Core package or one of the additional two premium packages. This channel lets you watch all the other NFL games when a team is in scoring position. Otherwise, you will only be able to watch your local broadcast in entirety.

Hulu Live

Monthly Cost: $39.99

Perhaps you already stream your favorite tv shows on demand with Hulu. For $39.99 a month, you can stream NFL games on your local channels and ESPN. Remember to enter zip code to determine which local channels you can stream before subscribing. At this time, Hulu Live doesn’t offer the NFL Network.

Like CBS All Access, Hulu Live lets you stream your favorite local and cable channels live and also lets you watch on demand catalog for one flat monthly fee.

DirecTV Now

Monthly Cost: $35

When it comes to streaming NFL games, DirecTV Now is probably one of the least cost-effective streaming platforms. While it can be an excellent option for non-NFL programming, the monthly cost just isn’t worth it. While you can potentially stream your local channels and ESPN for $35 per month, the NFL Network isn’t available at all.

If you only want to stream ESPN, you can do it for $20 a month on Sling TV. If you want ESPN and the NFL Network, you will need either Sling TV or PlayStation VUE.

NFL Sunday Ticket is available through DirecTV Now. That is reserved for satellite customers. One exception to the rule is that you can stream NFL Sunday Ticket if you live in an apartment complex where your DirecTV signal is obstructed or you are not allowed to setup a satellite receiver dish.

NFL Mobile by Verizon Wireless

Monthly Cost: Cost of Verizon smartphone plan

You might be thinking about ditching your Verizon Wireless contract to save money. Only Verizon customers can stream every NFL game live with the NFL Mobile app. Even though the aforementioned streaming platforms allow you to stream most live programs on your cell phone, NFL games will be blacked out. Unless you are a Verizon Wireless customer with the NFL Mobile app of course.

It’s free to download the app and Verizon will not charge data for streaming the games. You even get 24/7 access to the NFL Network. This can be a compelling reason to remain (or switch) to Verizon Wireless as your cell phone carrier.

Non-Verizon customers will only be able to watch highlight on the NFL Mobile app.

Amazon Prime

Annual Cost: Included with $99 annual subscription fee

As the largest online retailer, Amazon Prime is offering a lot of benefits to help offset the $99 membership fee.

For the 2017 NFL season, you can stream the 10 Thursday night games that are also airing on NBC and CBS. Every Thursday night game will also stream live on the NFL Network. If you don’t have the NFL Network, this allows you to watch the majority of the Thursday Night Football games compliments of Amazon.

If you can stream the NFL Network or can access your local CBS or NBC affiliate, you don’t have to worry about springing for an Amazon Prime just to stream NFL games this season.

NFL Game Pass

Annual Cost: $99.99–one-time or four monthly payments of $29.99

You won’t be able to watch games live with NFL Game Pass, but, you can watch every single game on demand as soon as it finishes. All preseason, regular season, and playoff games will be condensed into 45 minutes of playback with some cool features including 23 camera angles and the ability to only watch plays that include a specific player.

You can also listen to your team’s radio broadcast live during the game.

Stream NFL Games Today and Immediately Save Money

As cord-cutting becomes more common, the various streaming platforms are making it easier than ever to stream your favorite NFL games. Streaming is cable tv is an easy way to reduce your monthly spending without altering your weekly routine. If being able to watch your favorite team on Thursday, Sunday, or Monday is the only reason you still pay $103 a month for cable tv, now can be a great time to make the switch!
