Darrell Waltrip is one of the most iconic racers in NASCAR history, amassing an impressing 84 wins and 59 poles during his illustrious career on the track.

Waltrip’s racing career spanned 29 years, and he now serves as a color commentator for Fox Sports, offering his expert analysis for millions of racing fans around the world.

Tragically, Waltrip suffered a tragic loss on Wednesday morning, as his mother, Margaret Waltrip, passed away at the age of 90 years old.

In a statement, Waltrip announced that “Mom went home to be with Jesus this morning, we had her for 90 wonderful years, we were all there this morning, thank for your prayers.”

The racing legend also posted a powerful tribute to his mother on Twitter.

Margaret Waltrip had three sons, Darrell, Michael and a third son, Bobby, who died in 2014. Her son Michael is a two-time Daytona 500 winner and also works as an analyst for Fox Sports.
