East Jakarta Bus Terminal

Two explosions have rocked a bus terminal in East Jakarta, Indonesia.

Local media are reporting the explosions took place at Kampung Melayu bus terminal. Buses are being diverted from the terminal.

The first explosion occurred at 9 p.m. local time with a second one occurring just five minutes later.

Police have confirmed the explosion. East Jakarta police chief Andry Wibowo told reporters over the phone, “Our officers on the field are checking it. There was (indeed) an explosion, but it’s being checked.”

Early reports indicate the explosions occurred near the bathrooms.

Police are arriving on scene and you can see at least one man being carried away after suffering severe injuries.

The bus company is reporting the explosions were caused by at least one suicide bomber.

There are currently conflicting reports about injuries. One report from a hospital official notes two policemen and one civilian are conscious and being treated. Another report notes five people are wounded. At least one police officer has been confirmed killed by Indonesian police.

At least three people have been confirmed dead.
