JJohnny Cash's 1985 Christmas Special

Johnny Cash’s annual Christmas Specials were so fun to watch. Johnny was a proud Christian and loved celebrating the birth of Jesus.

The 10th Anniversary Johnny Cash Christmas Special

His 1985 show was extra special as it was “The 10th Anniversary Johnny Cash Christmas Special”. To commemorate the special occasion, Johnny invites an array of old friends to join him on stage.

The Anniversary Special was a veritable who’s who of music icons.  You can see Jerry Lee Lewis, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Barbra Mandrell in the 50 minute video below. Even Steve Martin and Kris Kristofferson make an appearance.

As always, Johnny and June Carter sang together. And, of course, Johnny brings the rest of the family into the act. John Carter, Helen, Roseanne, Cindy – the gang was all there.

An Annual Christmas Tradition

Johnny Cash’s annual Christmas special was a tradition that so many of us enjoyed and can look back fondly on. Recalling how we watched with our own families. So this wonderful special is worth revisiting again year after year!

You can watch the full 50-minute special below. If you’re short on time, you can fast forward to watch your favorites. Maybe it’s Merle or Barbra. I personally have a soft spot for the Mandrells at Christmas.

We were so lucky that Johnny Cash shared his family with us for so many Christmases. Those Christmas specials were a family affair and a gift to so many Americans who gathered around our TV sets to watch them.

Share this to bright someone’s day with some old fashioned Christmas delight!
