cancer research

Just about everybody uses some kind of music app and social networking tool on their phones or tablets today.

However, there is one name most people will remember when it comes to music sharing: Napster. And one social networking site stands above all: Facebook.

Sean Parker co-founded Napster and was the President of Facebook in its early stages.

Both helped to make Parker, 36, a very wealthy man. He has a net worth of $2.5 billion. He’s so wealthy, he just announced he was going to spend $250 million…..on cancer research.

Cancer immunotherapy will get a hefty dose of its own moonshot Wednesday when a tech billionaire announces he’s giving $250 million to six cancer centers nationwide, including Manhattan’s Memorial Sloan Kettering and Stanford.

Sean Parker, founder of the music file-sharing service Napster and the founding president of Facebook, says he is putting his money behind cancer immune therapy because it is at a turning point and would benefit from research that is done without regard for the costs.

Wow. Cancer immunotherapy is a relatively new treatment that has been helping people survive stage 4 cancer.

What do you think about that? Wouldn’t it be great if more people like Sean pooled their money for cancer research?
