Construction workers working on the renovation of Baltimore’s Washington Monument made quite a discovery. They discovered a time capsule from 1815 in the cornerstone of the building.

Inside were newspapers from 200 years ago and a copy of the Declaration of Independence. Obviously, historians were excited to find this revelation.

Mount Vernon Place Conservancy knew there was a cornerstone, but they didn’t know the location until it was discovered during renovation.

This is the oldest Washington Monument in the nation. And it is reported that 30,000 people attended the groundbreaking. Check out the video below to see all the things that were discovered.
