Ellen DeGeneres has broken her silence after her ex-girlfriend Anne Heche, who she dated for years in the 1990s before their infamously bitter breakup, crashed into a house in Los Angeles at 90mph last week.

DeGeneres Asked About Heche

Days after the crash, DeGeneres was spotted by Daily Mail photographers leaving the True Lune restaurant in Santa Barbara, California with an unidentified male. When asked about Heche, who remains in the hospital in the wake of the crash, DeGeneres said that she has no idea what the actress’s condition is because the two of them no longer speak.

“We are not in touch with each other, so I would not know,” DeGeneres said before wishing Heche a speedy recovery. “I don’t want anyone to be hurt.”

When the photographer told DeGeneres that it was “quite a dangerous accident” that happened, DeGeneres replied in agreement, saying “yes it was.” Check out her full comments on this in the video below.

Heche Crashes Into Home Of Woman

Last Friday, the home of Lynne Mishele was completely destroyed in Los Angeles when Heche slammed her blue Mini Cooper not it at speeds that police say were nearly 90mph. The vehicle and house then caught fire, which 59 firefighters needed more than an hour to completely extinguish.

Heche, 53, remains in “critical condition” at this time, according to her rep.

“At this time, Anne is in extreme critical condition. She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” Heche’s rep said in a statement. “She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”

Mishele was lucky to escape uninjured with her various pets, who were also luckily unharmed. Her neighbor David Manpearl said that Mishele initially thought something had fallen from the sky and exploded into her house when the crash occurred.

“She’s lucky to be alive,” he said. “She was shaking when she told me she had just been in the living room right where the car had crashed.”

Money Raised For Mishele

A GoFundMe page that has been set up for Mishele states that her house was “immediately red-tagged” after the fire was put out, meaning it was deemed unsafe to live in. The page adds that on top of losing her house, Mishele “lost her entire lifetime of possessions, mementos, all equipment for her business including her laptop and iPad, all of her clothing and basic necessities, and all household items.”

“A kind and generous person, Lynne is always first to offer help to others,” the page continues. “Today we are asking the community to come together and help Lynne start over. Please, please join us – 100% of the proceeds from this fundraiser are going directly to Lynne Mishele.”

The page has already far surpassed its $100,000 goal, raising over $132,000 for Mishele.

Police have tested Heche’s blood for alcohol, as photos of her in her vehicle before the crash appear to show a vodka bottle in the front seat cupholder. However, they have yet to release the findings of the test, and legal experts say they will likely wait until she is out of the hospital to charge her, should she be found to have been intoxicated.

Heche And DeGeneres’ History

Heche and DeGeneres began dating after they met in 1997, and they split three years later in a breakup that appears to have been bitter, according to US Weekly. Despite this, Heche described DeGeneres as being a “beautiful part” of her life in a 2020 interview.

“I’m proud to have been part of a revolution that helped move equality forward,” she told Mrs. Warburton Magazine in August of 2020 when asked about their romance, “But there is still work to do.”

Heche is frankly quite lucky that she did not hurt or kill anyone else in this horrendous crash. It will certainly be interesting to see what other details come out about this incident in the days and weeks to come.
